Space: Above and Beyond has the saddest ending ever. Seriously? I was crying!

Cooper as he sits on Vansen's bed: "Now I know how she felt her whole life. I lost my mother and father on the same day."

And then the pan shot out with just Cooper and West lying on fallen comrades beds and... shit! So sad, way too sad. And the whole reveal with the Chig... Ugh. *sniffle* Way to take your show out with a bang and some realism to boot.

And to make myself feel a little better I made me a McQueen icon. *points* I volunteer to enter sci-fi land in order to sit a vigil at his bedside. *nods* It's a tough gig, but I'm willing to do it.

It's been YEARS since I saw this. Didn't like everyone die or something??

Oh yeah. I remember that one.

I don't think I'd seen a series end on such a DOWNER since Blake's 7 and I probably haven't seen another since. The bit where Vansen says goodbye over the radio, knowing she and Damfus are going to die, was the bit that got me (not sure if I remember right, but I think Vansen had a half-chance of surviving but she refused to leave Damfus who was unconscious).

*pats shoulder*

And greetings from Newcastle! Upon-Tyne, that is. Not the one just a short-ish drive up the freeway.

I used to love Space: Above and Beyond, but sadly no-one seems to know what I'm talking about when I say things like, "See that new version of Battlestar Galactica? It may be brilliant and everything, but it owes a hell of a lot to Space: Above and Beyond." A sadly underrated and under-appreciated show.

And yeah. Saddest. Ending. Ever. (Although I'm still waiting to see how Supernatural's going to end...)
