OK if you accidentally turn on the hotplate that has a pot of dry noodles on it, but as yet no water in the pot......the noodles burn and it makes LOTS of smoke and the burning bits stick to the pot and it's really hard to get them off!

Darn my own stupidity!
Interestingly, the smoke alarm didn't go off at all!
