Can I move my "My Videos" and "My Music" folders etc to another hard drive and still get WMP etc. to recognise where the files are?

I assume I just need to change a default setting somewhere, but sometimes Windows isn't so simple. Anyone know?

That really shouldn't be a problem. My laptop got zapped with that 'Personal Security' virus (geeeze, it's a bitch too) and it just shut it down completely. I knew I'd need to reformat but didn't want to lose all my music and stuff.

So, we went to Fry's (a HUGE-ass electronics store here; best prices anywhere) and got a docking kit. We pulled the harddrive from the laptop before reformatting and uploaded the music and picture files to an external, also backed up my son's music as we're a bit gun-shy of viruses these days, and I'm able to play my music no problem!

I flop my music and vids back and forth between my laptop and external all the time. VLC and WMP play them no matter where I have them. :D

Oh okay. I thought maybe they'd need to be able to find stuff for playlists etc. Maybe it's more advanced than I think.

Thanks! :)
