I meant to post about this earlier.
I went to See 'Rock the Ballet' on Saturday night. It was a lot of fun. Weirdly, the first half was good, but not OMG!wow, but then the second half was AMAZING!
It was billed as a one of those "this is going to shake up the ballet world" type shows, but I really just think these kinds of shows stand on their own merits as do the more traditional ballet styles. No idea why they feel the need to say that sort of bold statement. It just invites really bad reviews and I've seen a number of them for this show.
In reality it's a high energy dance-show (with hiphop, ballet, jazz and even martial arts moves incorporated in the dancing) to some great music (INXS, Michael Jackson, Queen, Cold Play, etc.). It's rather like watching So You Think You Can Dance on fast forward without all the boring bits and with an almost entirely male cast. And it's a lot of fun. They have the audience clapping along and jigging in their seats. :)
A German preview I found on youtube that makes me grin:
(P.S. Thanks for your comments this morning guys. They mean a lot.)
