I think some of the books take place in other countries. :) I'm not worried about another group making more Primeval, it's the "younger ,sexier" bit that makes me cringe. I mean they're pretty young and sexy right now. Becker, Jess, Abbey, Conner... Right?! It'll be interesting to see if it's replacing the British version, coexisting with it (guest stars swapping about could be awesome!) or just a remake (boo!).
The books do tend to be in other countries, and do all the thing you'd rightly expect they couldn't afford on a tv budget. For tie-in novels the 2 I've read so far seem pretty decent, though they have the downside you know the OCs will pretty much all die and they can't do major plot development since they slot into the show timeline.
