Americans out there... fic question

What do you guys call it when you get a text messages on your cell phone? Do I just I call it a text message or do you use sms like us Aussies? Or txt message?

EDIT: I've gone with text message, because it seems safe, but please let me know if it's wrong. :)

Text. Sometimes txt if we're texting about texting, but usually just text. :)

Awesome! Nice to know. We here often talk about SMS-ing as well (acronym for short message service), but I've never noticed that on American TV shows.
