Random question. SMS from your PC?

Is there a FREE service to send SMS/text messages to mobile/cell phones from your home PC?

I hear of people doing it, but the services I've found so far are confusing and certainly not free.

Blueskyfrog was the site, but it was a very long time ago: http://www.blueskyfrog.com/. Guess you could check it out, but I think you might have to register first.
