Torchwood 1x13

Could they put any more into that 40 minutes? I don't know whether to laugh or cry, though I think I was crying with laughter in a few places.

Jack/Ianto kiss. Can't believe how canon that is now. Seriously no strange stopwatch remarks this episode!
Samurai warrior in a Tokyo train station (on the scrolling news banner! Bwah!)
That big cross between a devil and Godzilla.
Jack's melodramatic fourth crack at death (counting the two this episode - yes I was counting)
The Snow White kiss thing that brings him back!
Gwen's beau getting killed and brought back and the whole screaming at Jack...

*gives up making sense*
To laugh or cry or just cry with laughter and yet, how freaking cool was that?

And the Tardis came! Whee! Really need to watch the episodes of Dr Who with Captain Jack in them!

*stares in amazement once more*

Freaking cool indeed! After some hit and miss eps this season, I just loved the latest two. It was timely "lightness" for me too given the past few days. They really know their fans and know which buttons to push, scenes and kisses to give ;) I enjoyed Ep 12 more for some reason -- maybe it was to see some teeny backstory, all the Jack on Jack moments (hee for gay!), the WWII setting (I've a weakness for historical war romances), Ianto developing a spine in his face-off with Owen, or just a slightly more believable plot - as far as wacky TW plots go - compared to the Ep 13 rift, which I never really got back in Doctor Who. Though the ending with the Tardis? Priceless.

On that note, as a Heroes fan, didn't you also feel some strange deja vu what with the samurai warrior, Tosh speaking about destiny to her mom in Japanese, and the scary monster at the end?

PS - You're one of the few on my flist who posts about Torchwood. Yay you!

[identity profile] starrylizard.livejournal.com 2007-01-07 09:55 am (UTC)(link)
With TW, I have this bad habit of yelling "NO WAY" and giggling hysterically, which is totally the show's charm. I personally loved ep13, just for the non-stop action, but 12 was very cool! Can't believe how angry and strange they are making Owen and tehn he cried... Bwah! Poor baby!

Re the heroes: Hadn't really thought about it, but now you mention it, maybe the writers follow that series too! :)

Yay for me indeed. *takes a bow* :)

The time rift storyline was very Dr Who, but I didnt expect the Tardis!!!

After seeing the spoilery pics, I'm glad that Rhys didnt die, his butt slapping scene was too funny! And I love that they had him cleaning the oven!

I'm also amazed at how they managed to squash so much into one episode. It also had my emotions all over the place! The tension filled scenes with Jack and Owen, then Rhys dying *sniff* and Gwen freaking out, then the almost comedic scene of Abadon trying to kill Jack and Jack shouting and screaming!

mcalex says it's coming back around August... can't wait!!

Sorry for butting in (hee), but thanks for reminding me about all those naked and domestic Rhys scenes. I adore the character! What a crazy plot device they have going, in that no one really dies, from Jack to poor Suzie.

[identity profile] yokiem.livejournal.com 2007-01-07 10:17 am (UTC)(link)
I also love that when Gwen goes home Rhys is always doing something really mundane.

With characters able to be brought back to life I guess it makes the show less predictable? More crazy?

So true!

[identity profile] balikpulang.livejournal.com 2007-01-07 10:47 am (UTC)(link)
Gosh. I wish that's true for my hubby and I. Sadly, neither of us enjoys housework when we even have time for it that is, and the dust and dishes pile up till we can't stand it anymore (or the in-laws pay a visit)!

As for the never-dying option, most show leads are never at risk, so I'd no doubts about Jack surviving though I really thought Rhys could bite the dust and was pleasantly surprised. Of course, with Heroes and BSG warning us of pending major character death these days, all predictions are out the window!

[identity profile] yokiem.livejournal.com 2007-01-08 10:29 am (UTC)(link)
Yes, I heard about the major character deaths! Am scared for my favourite characters.

I guess the writers want the audience guessing. Especially in BSG, with so much war around them, it's odd that none of the major characters die. I've been watching the video blogs and they are funny. All the actors have been warned, even the cylons can be boxed!

And now in Heroes, I guess the storylines in terms of war are imminent... can't wait for Heroes to return, the previews look good!

Yes it was! I must watch the episodes with Jack in them. I think I'm getting close. Still watching S1 Dr Who, but I'm assuming that ending tied in with how Jack ended up in the DW series. Right? Yes or no answers only. :)

After seeing the spoilery pics, I'm glad that Rhys didnt die, his butt slapping scene was too funny! And I love that they had him cleaning the oven!

Yes, glad he didn't die and the butt slapping! That just cracked me up big time! Me with the squealing "no way" and the giggling again. Then he's making coffee in the buff! Hee!

I'm also amazed at how they managed to squash so much into one episode. It also had my emotions all over the place! The tension filled scenes with Jack and Owen, then Rhys dying *sniff* and Gwen freaking out
Ye, me not sure whether to laugh or cry in a few parts...

...then the almost comedic scene of Abadon trying to kill Jack and Jack shouting and screaming!
Yes, I was laughing until I cried... plus Abadon was like a big Godzilla thing with horns. Big feet going thump, thump and all the people covering their mouths, dropping their shopping and running. I want to be an extra on that show. It would be awsome!

mcalex says it's coming back around August... can't wait!!
For selfish reasons, I'm s glad you're hooked. Can I get S2 DW off you at some point? Do you have those on CD? I plan to finish watching S1 next, while watching SG1 S8 (which I'm finding rather boring...and can't watch in a row...)

[identity profile] yokiem.livejournal.com 2007-01-07 10:37 am (UTC)(link)
I got s2 1-12 in my hand!! But not the last episode, I have to get that off my brother.

SG1 s8 was the only one I didnt get around to watching only... might borrow that at the video store when I'm done with Farscape! Do the SG1 DVDs have lots of extras? I love extras!

[identity profile] starrylizard.livejournal.com 2007-01-07 10:40 am (UTC)(link)
cool!

Um, I borrowed the boxset off Rinne and so far I'm only up to disc 2. Must watch faster. I've not seen any extras yet, but they may all be on the last disc. You could ask Rinne, or I'll have a look for you. I'm sure there would be some. :)

[identity profile] yokiem.livejournal.com 2007-01-07 10:44 am (UTC)(link)
hehe.. disk 2, you've had that boxset for how long?!?!

I can understand - with so many other shows to watch!

Just aksing about extras since the SGA DVDs have so many commentaries and profiles, etc.

[identity profile] starrylizard.livejournal.com 2007-01-07 11:12 am (UTC)(link)
Hey I watched S7 all the way through. :P
I don't think the SG1 DVDs are quite as big on the extras, but I'll check.
Did you see my new vid? Finally finished the Can't touch this one!

[identity profile] yokiem.livejournal.com 2007-01-07 11:27 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah I saw your vid but it didnt download properly (so I watched half of it before it cut out) and I havent been back to dl it. (I'm at home now...) I thought I could get it from you tomrrow.

I saw the bits with your comments. Sheppard with the bomb and then 'probably should touch that' --> funny!

Yes. Sorta? My all time faves were The Empty Child/The Doctor Dances. Lovely lovely eps.

PS I just realized I need a DW/TW icon but I'm outta space! Argh.

[identity profile] starrylizard.livejournal.com 2007-01-07 11:13 am (UTC)(link)
Hee, I need a DW one. So many weird expressions to chose from. My icons are always in fluctuation. :)

[identity profile] thudjack.livejournal.com 2007-01-07 07:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Wasn't it just made of *so much awesome*?! Despite a slightly predictable plot, there was much OMG. Ianto's little brokeback!moment with Jack's coat? Killed me *g*
