Sven and friends - the photos

Sven (the gay sumo-wrestling purple dragon) and his lover Clay (the gay Nashville cowboy) pose in front of a lovely artwork made by Smuffster which depicts a happy gay Stargate Atlantis flower family. They were most impressed.


Clay practises his riding skills on Sven


Sven and his Sumo-wrestling buddy Balthazar. Balthazar stated for the record that he is straight, but he enjoys wrestling with his pal. Both hope to be sumo-champions one day.


Sven, Balthazar and their pal Rocky practice their winning poses for the Purple Dragon Sumo-Wrestling Championships that they hope to win one day.

Nah, this was completely random. One of the guys that is still finishing his PhD part time is also working for this company in some way. He just left a bunch of goodies in our student common room.

Yep, Balthy is Yokiem's, named after the guy in Charmed. Clay is also Yokiem's. I brought him back from Nashville for her and when she gave him a pink charity bracelet (brain cancer research bracelet) he was very happy.

Clay and Sven met when Sven was on holiday in Tennessee. While there, he took in a rodeo where Clay happened to sit next to him and explain the different riding techniques and it was love at first sight.

My collegues are completely unaware of the backstory. Though I've already claimed three more purple dragons for other people in my lab, so maybe the madness is catching...

I know you probably don't frequent my LJ but I was just telling Derry that uh BOBW just announced (unofficially via email) the con line up for next year.

Good news... you know who is coming!

Bad news, it's in Feb when I'm not going to be here.

Yeah, I've been sobbing all day in dismayal!!!! Derry is bloody excited and is going to scare introduce Cuddles to Joe. Hahaha!!! Love to see that spider on the hair.... damn I am so envious. I already have planned my photo to give to him to autograph.

I honestly thought that the con would be in March so I could go to both... guess I can't have my cake and eat it too!

Do you guys want me to forward you the email? I tell ya, the Flan is not something to be missed... I really am very sad that I'm going to miss him and I'll bet he won't come to Aust again!!! Hmm, now I am determined to bring K9 to London (though how I'm going to explain to customs, my sister and about everyone on the way will be interesting. Maybe K9 can visit the streets of Belgium and Florence with me!)

Blame GlaxoSmithKline and a product called Seretide (something used in surgery apparently - I got no idea). The dragon seems to be their mascot. There's another company that has a weird-looking walrus thing for their mascot.

You should see some of the crap we pick up. I got a fit ball once, umbrellas, pillow cases, stress balls, alarm clocks, even USB flash drives... They are weird. The funny thing is the doctors just ignore them. It's the students that wander around taking everything. You can find great stuff at some of the conferences. :P

I wish I could shove one of the dragons down the phone line to you. There's still small-sized ones left.
