Fantastic documentary, thanks for sharing! I've just been watching the whole movie on YouTube, some really thought-provoking stuff.

It surely is. They've got a website where you can sign up and pledge to be a better role model for young women etc. It's pretty great! I'd love to start some sort of Australian group for it. There must be one somewhere.

This is brilliant. Thanks for sharing it.

You're welcome! It's the sort of thing I LOVE to spread. And Shoemoney tells me the whole documentary is up on youtube if you do a search. It's really well worth watching. :D

Edit: There's a link to the full documentary in a comment below. :)

Is there? Because if not, I'd like to see one started as well!

Wow - again, thank you for sharing this! That's amazing, I need to watch that. And then have everyone I know watch it too.

The full movie's here, it's well worth watching. :)

I'll see if I can find one. Otherwise maybe we can somehow join the campaign. :)

Agreed! YES! I actually see Hilary Clinton as quite a role model too. And I love that we have a female CEO at my workplace. :D

Edit: and there is a link to the full documentary, which is completely bad ass, in a comment below. :)

Already took the pledge -- and saw that there are no screenings scheduled for Australia...

Thank you, I just finished watching it. It's awesome.

Through more than half a century there really hasn't been enough change. I remember those ads and movies and TV shows where the woman's job was almost always taking care of the house and kids. That's what they expected of them back then.

And it's mostly the media's fault for projecting what the media want women to be. Not what "women" want to be.

Thank you for this, I had never heard of that documentary before and I watched it today after seeing your post. It was a great eye-opener to say the least, very thought provoking and insightful.

[identity profile] starrylizard.livejournal.com 2012-01-22 10:29 am (UTC)(link)
You're welcome! :D

Yeah, I hope we can change it, eventually. Get the next generation of women pumped to be who they want to be.
