It's me with the random computer Q's again

There's this thing on my dad's HP computer called "HP Software update." Now the damn thing is updating constantly, the things it updates are random and unnecessary and it's using up memory.

I now read online that these updater programs from HP are actually ideal means for hackers to get into people's computers.

So my question is, does anyone know how I can either delete the program or at least stop it from updating?

There is no uninstall feature on the program and as far as I can tell there's no way to open it up and turn off the updates or anything. If you click on the program it just starts itself up and updates. Ugh!

Anyone?

I don't use HP at the moment so I can't be super specific, but I would try either the 'add/remove programs' feature (which I think you can find via the start menu), or attempt to track down the program in windows explorer and delete it from the file directory there. I would also suggest looking at System Preferences if neither of those work - you may be able to toggle an on/off option that would stop it from running.

Good luck!

Oh I forgot to mention that it doesn't appear in the 'add/remove programs' menu! I tried there first thinking I could delete it there. :(

I'll try the other options though. Thanks! xx
