People are such downers!

Wow! has anyone looked at the #AskSupernatural tag on Twitter? It's all vent, vent, Cas/Dean vent, vent... rinse & repeat. The some idiots who can't type actual sentences so I don't know what they're even asking. Ugh Twitter. I would not like to be the poor intern who has to go through those. They will need alcohol. Much alcohol.

Maybe we should try to flood it with some less vent-y, but useful questions. I totally will when/if I think of any... Nup, nothing is coming except the Impala floodlight question. I'll pop that up anyway.

Today I found a S5 Supernatural Guidebook thingy in a $2 bin! It's the season I'm watching and it has nice glossy pictures of the boys in suits. $2 well-spent.

I love finds like that! My hubby found one of the SPN graphic novels and gave it to me for my birthday. :))

And yeah - that tag. I wonder if they actually thought if would be wank free! There are some good ones in there though. Hopefully the person in charge to sorting them out will know which questions really need answering (or at least are interesting and relevant). We'll see I suppose!

[identity profile] starrylizard.livejournal.com 2014-07-17 12:23 pm (UTC)(link)
I was surprised that there weren't any "what is your favourite colour?" type questions actually. I thought people would be flooding the tag with the silly, not the wank. Eh!

[identity profile] ash48.livejournal.com 2014-07-17 12:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Always wank when given the opportunity. The D/C vs the Bro!only camps get pretty vicious. Sadly.

[identity profile] cassiopeia7.livejournal.com 2014-07-17 01:31 pm (UTC)(link)
I normally avoid Twitter (and Tumblr) for all the vent-y reasons you state, but just took a peek at the #askSupernatural tag. Whoa. I see our lovely fandom hasn't changed a bit. And someone certainly did not think this issue through. ;)

Yay on finding cheap books, though!

[identity profile] starrylizard.livejournal.com 2014-07-17 09:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah. I am not much of a twitter person either. Just had a poke around the tag, since everyone was advertising it. :P

[identity profile] jackfan2.livejournal.com 2014-07-17 04:44 pm (UTC)(link)
I think show needs to shut off the twitter account and just shut fandom out of the conversation; we deserve no less and can blame the rabble for their over-zealous activism. IT'S A FRIGGIN' TV SHOW!!! you wanna get mad, find something in real life to 'get active' about and do so in a positive, life affirming way.

And you know, I love the threat of 'we'll stop watching if you don't (fill in blank). Seriously? As much as I would hate to lose viewers, this subsect of fandom with its fatuous and constant paroxysm of invidious rhetoric is ruining it for those of us who have lives, love show and don't feel entitled to a show, on a major network, doing what WE want them to. Just like any other show on television, they have advertisers who pay the bills and would likely part company if the subsect's ransom demands, demented though they are, were met.

PS: sorry for the weird words.. hehehe.. i'm in the middle of a writing challenge wherein we had to use 5 words we didn't otherwise know. I only hope my newest fandom, BBC Musketeers, doesn't devolve into rabid chaos at some point. Fingers crossed!

I think in general, the fans of SPN are getting younger - especially the ones on those sites. And teenagers love their drama.

[identity profile] jackfan2.livejournal.com 2014-07-17 10:14 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm sure you're right. I'm convinced at that age, they don't fart. They just save it all up and it comes out as drama. They need a t-shirt with my favorite caption on it: STOP GLOBAL WHINING!

LOL! If I had teenage daughters, they'd likely have them but thankfully, I have two boys whom I've taught to respect women and avoid the drama-girls. Like. The. Plague. No one needs that in their lives.

Excuse me interrupting, but I must wave and say ""HELLO fellow Musketeers Fan!"" :))

[identity profile] jackfan2.livejournal.com 2014-07-18 04:32 pm (UTC)(link)
Back-atcha!!! Ah, Musketeers, right??

I'd no idea at first. I kept seeing fic popping up but couldn't for the life of me figure where this ground swell of stories was coming from. Then I did some digging and found the series was from BBC. I binge watched *cough*online*cough* and frankly, was hooked from the jump. Still, I kept waiting for it to get cheesy, the likes of Merlin (no offense to anyone but my son and I constantly made fun of the killer trampolines that tossed people about ... very silly) and found THIS series to be most amazing. Far better production value and well, ARAMIS!!!! (Santiago Cabrera!!!!! *thud*) and all the men are gorgeous and very manly men with angsty backgrounds, lots of hair, (no manscaping!! embrace your testosterone men!!) horses, swords and guns and .. I WAS HOOKED!!!

Um.. anyway.. round 2 watching since show is finally airing on BBC America, though it is done in the UK for the season, and what a treat. I've pre-ordered the dvds on blue ray coz.. well, ARAMIS!!!! *thud*

Hee! Yes, I think I persuaded a couple of flisties over to the dark side by waving *cough* episodes *cough* under their noses!

Only show apart from SPN I've ever attempted or even been inspired enough by to vid, was hooked on the very first episode and although this first vid I'm working on is an Athos vid, I know once it's done the next one will be for Aramis - I'm very much a fan of all of them, but there's something about Aramis that has always stolen my heart. I love this interpretation, I love the dry wit and the vocal tones, the rain and the snow, the horses and the leather! Musketeers with Muskets! Hah! heaven! :))

I'm quite sad seeing so many negatives after it first aired both here and in the US - oh well, more for me I guess!

[identity profile] starrylizard.livejournal.com 2014-07-17 09:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Wow! Seriously! Yep, that's the one I got for $2!! O_o

[identity profile] irismay42.livejournal.com 2014-07-18 04:32 am (UTC)(link)
Score!

[identity profile] heliokleia.livejournal.com 2014-07-17 08:11 pm (UTC)(link)
All I want to ask Mr Carver would be, 'are you done with brother vs brother, yet?'.
- And because I already know that he's deaf on that ear it's not necessary to create a twitter account just to be able to ask Mr *coughs* Showrunner a question he wouldn't answer anyway.

On the other site... I can only shake my head in disbelief about what you're telling here, sweetie. Where, I ask you, where have all the bright grown women gone that once were [and hopefully still are!!] the core and solid basic of this, our beloved fandom?
*waves* ♥

[identity profile] starrylizard.livejournal.com 2014-07-17 09:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Outside of LJ and maybe some peeps on Facebook, I think a lot of the fans are now teenagers. Which is quite a different audience to the one it pulled back when I was an uber!fan in the early seasons. At least I cling to that being the reason. :P

When I decided to throw myself back into fandom, I also decided that my flist was the ONLY part of fandom I was throwing myself at. Under buses over at Twitter? No thank you, but thank you for letting me know it's just not worth worrying about missing anything! :))

[identity profile] starrylizard.livejournal.com 2014-07-17 09:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Good idea! I'm basically doing the same. I just thought I'd check out the tag and ask a question, but yeah...

Oh believe you me, when it's quiet around here, I've been tempted too. :))

[identity profile] charis-kalos.livejournal.com 2014-07-18 01:31 am (UTC)(link)
Because I lurk in the quieter shoals of fandom, I tend to miss the crazies. But they're obviously out there - with Twitter accounts! I hope the intern reading gets lots of chocolate and coffee.

Incidentally, bits of the vid you made for this year's Latter Day Geeks service is being used in a report my region of the church makes to all of Victoria and Tasmania, so you get thanked at the end. Don't worry, no one but church people will see it! I hope it doesn't harm your vidding street cred. :-)

Haha! This made my day! :D

Sometimes fandom makes me go, like, are those people even for real???.. *facepalm*

[identity profile] starrylizard.livejournal.com 2014-07-20 08:58 am (UTC)(link)
OFTEN fandom does that to me. It's why I tend to hide in my smaller corner. :P

Want my season 1 trading cards + folder? Happy to give them over to someone who is still into the show.

[identity profile] starrylizard.livejournal.com 2014-07-20 08:59 am (UTC)(link)
I didn't know they had trading cards. Honestly I wouldn't know what to do with them. But thanks! *hugs*

YES. *cackles* :-D

I'm off Twitter entirely due to spoilers for everything (I'm still only 2 episodes into SPN season 9 :-P), but if they say anything in response I'd love to hear it!

[identity profile] starrylizard.livejournal.com 2014-07-20 08:59 am (UTC)(link)
I will let you know if I hear anything. :D

I saw some of the wanky tweets reposted on tumblr, before the tag was deleted. Some people are very, very delusional. They think that by being rude and pushing their agenda, that the powers that be will listen to them... but it's never going to happen.

It's cool that you got that book for only $2. :)

[identity profile] starrylizard.livejournal.com 2014-07-21 04:04 am (UTC)(link)
I'm not at all surprised if they've deleted the tag! *sigh* They're trying to interact with you, people. Be civil!

Yeah, I had no idea that book is hard to get. Bargain! ;)
